Rain rain and more rain from the latest tropical storm which is still down south. We need rain it was a long HOT summer! Good for a nice Fall up here in NH especially our crops. I said it Fall. I painted a watercolor and then ink drawing ACEO of pumpkins at the marketplace the other day. I might get some small pumpkins this year and decorate. I go to a new market now. It is on an apple orchard. This Saturday I will be making a stop for those late summer crops and new delicious apple variety to try. I never knew there were so many different kinds of apples. What are you doing for Fall? I would love to find some gourds dry them out and paint to look like birds. I have one that was given to me a couple of years ago and every Fall it becomes an inspiration to me. What inspires you? I made a nice bookmark for Fall. Both the bookmark and this ACEO are going to a Swapbot.com friend for a surprise blessing package. May you have a wonder filled day!!!!!

SUPER COOL SUNDAY

Weather report for Southern NH where Glenna's Garden is located. The hurricane Earl brushed by us on Friday leaving us with much cooler temperatures today, Sunday. The wind has been up a bit and a good amount of rain preceded all of this on Friday. We really needed the rain. My grandbabies have been wonderful to care for the last two weekends. I forgot my camera yesterday for new pics of my grandsons.

Smooth and creamy, this peanut butter treat is as cool as they come.


makes: 8 servings


Ingredients


1 cup Stonyfield Organic Low Fat Banilla Yogurt


1 cup Stonyfield Organic Fat Free Milk


1/4 cup creamy peanut butter


2 small bananas


3/4 cup seltzer water


Directions


In blender or food processor, combine all ingredients and blend until smooth. Pour mixture into popsicle molds, dividing evenly between 6-8 popsicles (depending on the size of the mold). Place in freezer overnight and enjoy once completely frozen.

I have finally started the picture taking process of many new items for Glenna's Garden. My Fall 2010 collection. A mix of my art and jewelry mostly. I have been busy creating all summer long. Some of my new art is inspired by challenges and themes suggested by other artists. My jewelry is a continuation of my Simply Sweet line for Fall.

One thing I have always done for my readers is give you a sneak peek at items I have created before I list them in my shop so here are a couple of pictures for you.

BIRDWINGS BUTTERFLIES WEDNESDAY

I found it while reading about how swallow tail butterflies have made such a fantastic come back in the Eastern US this year. Two hard winters 2009/2010 killed off their predators perhaps scientists are thinking. I have always loved butterflies since I was a young girl and have had butterfly gardens where all of the plants were specifically planted to attract butterflies.

Well let's watch the gardens grow it is cool 66 today and rainy again. We have been like this for a few days now. It frustrates me because all of my pictures for my shop are done using natural lighting. I haven't seen sun since Sunday. So sales jumped at the shop check it out I did using google analytics. See my sold items at http://www.gnormyle.etsy.com/ some items are available in multiples all of my art is original though. Most of the jewelry is glass, stones or crystals and real silver. I have many choices for beads and a really cool ring idea I found recently. I have many new ACEO's to list in my shop I was looking through them today. I am always amazed at what I create then I have to choose ones to list in my shop. That is hard because I love them all and would love to list all of them for sale. I have a couple of new greeting cards I made recently and some vintage to list just as soon as the sun comes back. So meanwhile I have more time to create too. YAY!

I have spent my time wisely so far this week. I am all caught up on mail, feedback, and now working on organizing supplies. Setting up for Fall and all other supplies are stashed away, well except for Christmas what little I have of that and well now I know that I need to find some Chistmas materials soon.

Woman's Day Magazine March 12, 2010

Active Time: 7 minutes Total Time: 10 minutes

Recipe Ingredients

1 (12 oz) package SeaPak® Popcorn Shrimp or SeaPak® Jumbo Popcorn Shrimp, frozen

1 cup mayonnaise (add more if desired)

1/2 cup fresh onion, finely diced

1 - 2 cloves of garlic, finely diced

1 large hard-boiled egg, diced

2 Tablespoons dill pickle relish (or substitute diced dill pickles)

2 - 3 hoagie rolls or panini bread

Recipe Preparation

1. Prepare the shrimp according to package directions. Set aside to cool for 3 minutes.

2. Add mayonnaise, onion, garlic, hard boiled egg and pickle relish to a large bowl. Stir to incorporate ingredients.

3. Add warm shrimp to mayonnaise mixture and stir until shrimp are fully coated. Spoon onto hoagie rolls and serve.

I am full of happiness. I have been asked to watch my grandsons next Saturday for a few hours. One is 2 1/2 and the other 6 weeks. I hope the week ahead goes fast. I have been busy making things at Glenna's Garden studio. Tomorrow I will be doing picture taking and then listing the new items in my shop. I have a lot of earrings I just made.

I was up early this morning. I finally got all caught up with Glenna's Garden http://www.gnormyle.etsy.com/ Well it looks like I will be featuring two international shops back to back on Feature Friday here on my blog the next two Fridays. I finally have it all together and I am feeling 100% better. Today is a day off for me normally but I will be using the day to stay inside in the cool air and get things done for the start of a new week. If you want to be Featured on a Friday in my blog please just email me gnormyle@yahoo.com You must have an active Etsy shop and that is the only requirement. The rest of the work to put an article together is easy. I will be adding a link here later today for a treasury I will create today. This time the challenge will be a theme. I wish when I put the treasuries together that I could move the items I choose around by simply clicking the picture and repositioning it in another place just like we can do when we rearrange our shops. I am looking forward to Christmas in July on Etsy. I have received some good customer feedback on my jewelry I have listed. I started out wanting to offer jewelry but it is so very competitive on Etsy. I have so many new items to take pictures of Monday and hopefully start listing soon. What are your plans for today? Is anybody taking a vacation? I am waiting for my sister to move back to FL soon and then I will go there to visit her when it is cold here. Yay!

LIKE THE NEW LOOK?

In response to comments: Yes I did make some changes to my blog layout recently due to Blogger implementing them for our use. I like the way it looks. I try not to make it too complicated and keep it organized. My Owl ACEO sold so I relisted another one. It is my 200th sale, it happened today, and this customer will be getting a special gift from Glenna's Garden along with this adorable vintage owl art card they purchased. I have it in another design as well. I am an owl lover so I may keep one of the other cards. I have been "busy as a bee" listing new summer items in my shop and there is a bunch more to go. TIP OF THE DAY

Garden Insecticide

Ingrediants:
1 Tbsp.- Liquid Dishwashing Soap
1 Cup -Vegetable Oil
1 Cup -Water

Mix the the ingrediants together and store in an airtight jar. When ready to use, just add 1 to 2 1/2 tsp. of the mix solution to 1 cup of water in a spray bottle. Mist spray the mix solution on your plants, covering all leaf and stem surfaces. Safer for the environment! Enjoy your gardens!

THIS WEEK AT GLENNAS GARDEN

This week I have been busy making pinwheels, tags, more bookmarks to sell in the shop, some of these items may make it into Glenna's Garden at http://www.gnormyle.etsy.com/ The tags have cats on them, very cute and I used handmade paper for them. I also purchased some beautiful flower images and had one hard time printing them so rather than throw away all of the mistakes I created tags and bookmarks with them. I hate to throw things away. I was trying to print out 4 ACEO backgrounds which I eventually did figure out. I managed to get some photography done. I have a fantastic designer in Auckland. We met on ETSY. We were able to get 20 of my photos watermarked. I will share two pictures here today as well as they will be for sale at Glenna's Garden.

RAINY DAYS AND WEDNESDAYS

We have more rain today and it's cool here in Manchester, NH. I am soooo excited there are actually 3 small buds on the pomegranate bush here at Glenna's Garden studio. I will get pics and share them on here when they are bigger because they are teeney tiny right now. I did a major reorganization of my supplies today. I need to get some storage containers. I listed this ACEO I made "Taking It To The Edge" in my shop yesterday. It is from Quilter's Delight, a box set of booklets designed with a quilter in mind. WISHING ON A WEDNESDAY

Her contest ends tonight 12 PM Eastern time. My baby pomegranate plant has a flower again. This time I will be able to press it and use it in some creative endeavour. Last time I created an ACEO miniature art work with the first flower. That ACEO is for sale at Glenna's Garden shop www.gnormyle.etsy.com I had a bud drop the second time so all was lost. Now this will be a third one I can actually use. The flower is a gorgeous dark orange. I have taken a couple of pictures of the latest flower to share with everyone.

WET WEDNESDAY

It is early in the morning here at Glenna's Garden in Manchester, NH and pouring rain. Sweet sounding and soothing....my other computer crashed a few days ago. I finally got this laptop I have to run well. Yesterday I downloaded some pictures to this computer. I say this because I have lost a lot of pictures in the crash of the other computer. SAD about that! Now I am back up and running. I posted a new item in my shop so I will be sharing that as the picture of the day here. FALL is gorgeous here right now. My favorite trees nearby are slowly changing. I have been busy getting supplies to transition from Fall to winter. I am listing items for sale slowly to see what sells. It would be so great if I ever made it to the front page of ETSY, one day I tell myself. Well it looks like I am on track with all of the work I am putting into studying marketing on my own and with my knowledge of business especially small business I have now it definately helps. I now have a rubber stamp for Glenna's Garden. It is all part of certain things you need to have to be successful. Next I will working on a logo. G G with flowers around it and viney would be perfect. I have no experience with creating logos so I will search for that person on ETSY. The picture of the day is a fun ACEO I created depicting russian nesting dolls.

WOW ITS WEDNESDAY

The first leaves are already turning I have noticed. We are due up here in NH for some cold temperatures the next couple of nights and that will really get things going. Today I received a huge lot of fabric. I am truly amazed at what I have to work with now. I have already made some fabric bookmarks and they will be listed in my shop soon. Today it is cool and going to rain definately. The sky's are dark now. So I will have to wait photograph them until things clear up. I sorted the fabric and gathered all the Fall colors togteher. I will put Spring and Summer away. Then I have silks in another bag. There is a bag of an assortment of gauzy bright fabrics. There is more larger various allotments of fabrics in a stack about two feet high. At the same time I have created some really cute ACEO's myself, a couple of which I will share with you on here. I love dimensional so I made a Back to School ACEO (pictured above) it is very much dimensional and my Christmas 2009 ACEO is also available for early purchase in my gallery shop. I am so touched this morning from a lovely letter written to me by a customer ~ at first I thought it was some joke then I read the letter again. It was genuine gratefullness for the happiness I was responsible for in a stranger's life. From a husband about his wife to me. As an artist/designer/photogrpaher it means so much to me to receive thanks for something I have created.

TGIF It's Feeling Fresh

With summer winding down and Fall emerging soon this is the time of the year at Glenna's Garden when the birds start to get hungry. They eat many seeds especially sunflower seeds right off of the flower head, well the ones that the squirrels don't steal first. I too have started to create in Fall colors and themes. Rainy Monday

We just can't get a break from the rain this summer. It is cool out too. The plants are loving it. Veggie gardens are coming up nice. We have two large ones outside Glenna's Garden http://www.gnormyle.etsy.com/ Sales were really good through the YART SALE this past weekend. I have everything ready to go out to my customers. I got my sewing machine last night from a friend and for free too. It is a Singer Super Elegance Model 9461 I was like a little kid at Christmas early this morning looking it over. I found the manual for it at the Singer Company website and will have to order it next month. I have a nice collection of fabrics to work with and really just need thread in different colors. I am not sure what I am going to make to sell. I do know that I love to sew and I am very excited to get back to doing it again. The picture I have chose for today is one of my art pieces it is an ACEO with a vintage playing card attached to it. I have done three of these and they will each be done in a very limited quanity. Super Sunday

Up this morning early. I am checking on my sales for this weekend and I have 5 orders so far. The beautiful large pink roses I blogged about earlier have been dried whole and pressed now. I even have some leftover to start a pottpouri. The rose petals smell so good right now. I took a bunch of pictures of these huge pink roses for my photography. All five buds opened slightly and are now hanging to dry. I thought there were three but there were actually five buds. These will eventually make there way to a dried floral bouquet or on a wreath. What a success! Rain and more rain at Glenna's Garden, it stormed and poured all night long. 7 AM Sunday morning and it has stopped for now. The plants here at Glenna's Garden in Manchester, NH are loving this cooler and rainy weather. I am finding that all of the indoor plants here at Glenna's Garden need to be watered every other day. The ACEO Artist Card Edition and Original is an original that is for sale. It comes with a proteective plastic sleeve as well as a 4" by 6" photo of the pomagranate plant that produced one flower. I preserved itthe lone flower and now it is the clothing for this little boy. It gives me great satisfaction to be able to do this and also share my art as well. I am hoping that with some good luck, well I do have a green thumb, that this indoor pomagranate plant (bush), it is very young yet, will flourish with my care and produce more blooms for me next season and fruit would be fabulous. Sweet Saturday

Today was beautiful here in Manchester, NH. My shop was buzzing with buyers and I made another sale today. I sold one of my pieces of art called an ACEO Artist Cards Editions and Originals. I designed it using silk fabric over paper and layered. This is a picture of the ACEO layered in silk before I trimmed it. and the other picture is of the ACEO "SILK" completed. It is beautiful and I know that my customer will enjoy it forever. I am so happy to have found this art form ACEO's must be exactly 2 1/2 " by 3 1/2" and there are no more restrictions. They can be made with clay and wood too or like some of mine which are dimensional , the people I make with pressed flowers for clothing. Most of my ACEO's are for sale at Glenna's Garden http://www.gnormyle.etsy.com/ . My ACEO's are originals and collectible. They come with a protective plastic sleeve much like you use to protect the sports cards you are collecting. I prefer the hard clear plastic sleeve. Each card I make is signed and dated by me, Glenna Normyle, the artist. I collect ACEO's myself and have some really neat ones. For eample one of my favorites is "cow girls rule" that I picked up awhile ago. That's the country in me. I have been busy making more bookmarks, beaded items , more stuff for my shop and tending to the gardens here at Glenna's Garden. I bought cherries today $2.22 a pound now I know it's summertime.
