Yesterday was a whiteout and it snowed so hard it looked like it was raining. We got about a foot total on top of the couple the other feet of snow that was still here. I am so looking forward to Spring! Funny because I am doing a postcard swap today. I just happened to find some really nice Spring postcards recently so that is what I am sending out. Check out http://www.swapbot.com/ for a large variety of fun swaps. So far I have had a super positive experience with swapping from email to postcards to crafts and also supplies. plus more. I am concentrating on Spring Easter 2011 etc Glenna's Garden will reopen then, sometime in early 2011. I have been designing and creating jewelry, purchasing Spring, oh and Valentines Day too. Plus we have St. Patrick's Day in the mix. I am in the pastel color mode currently. It feels like Christmas and winter are here with all of the hustle and bustle out there and all of the pretty Christmas/Winter outdoor decorations. We had so much rain and very high winds yesterday. This place I am in was shaking last night keeping me up. That is another reason I would like to move to a better place. We have noreaster storms here every so often, they come with high winds. I am only about 45 mins in from the NH coastline, and this place was shaking so bad in the last one, before the storm last night, that I seriously felt very uncomfortable and scared. I am an experienced hurricane survivor, of a few too. My favorite Christmas theme is Victorian that is why I picked these pictures/clip art today. They are from Dover Publications. The Christmas tree I used yesterday as well. Happy crafting, shopping, decorating, baking and whatever else you are doing during this holiday time of the year.

Twice on Tuesday

Do you ever wake up in the morning and add sugar twice to your coffee because you aren't awake yet? That's me! I did it this morning good thing I use Splenda so it wasn't too strong and a big coffee cup too. It is sooo muggy this morning. I am thinking it might rain. Partly sunny kind of thick feeling sticky! I was going to walk to the post office downtown but the I found out I had 5 more items to send out. YAY! I love staying busy. Maybe I can get out for a quick jaunt around the neighborhood. If I had a dog I would have to go for many walks....sadly I am not allowed pets where I am. I do have some nice pictures to show you of irises from the garden. This Friday I will be featuring Doris who crochets many wonderful items among them bees.

HAPPY APRIL 2

Spring is here it is going to 75 today and 80 tomorrow. I have the windows open in the studio again. My lovely little Rocky Mt. Iris is loving life and so is the forsthyia......it popped! I am going out today to look for more sign of spring. Here is the first.

RAINDROPS ARE FALLING ON MY HEAD MONDAY

Spring is coming. The forsythia has budded. It is raining ever so lightly today. The window is open in my studio and it sounds better than any music I have ever heard. Another great challenge I made to myself make something you have never made before. I looked at the following tutorial for help http://www.ehow.com/how_4823133_sew-fabric-yoyos.html I am getting hooked to it, making fabric yo yos. What a wonderfully easy project with cute results every time. I started with the yellow fruit fabric first and made yo yos yesterday. Last night I cut out the lady bugs and tiny green leaf print circles for the next set of yo yos. Too cute!! So this morning I am hand stitching the ladybug yo yos. I thought I would share some pictures here. I am willing to sell these if anybody wants them just let me know. I will be making a few more sets I am sure and selling them in my shop for much more. HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE 2009

We are bracing for another quick blast of a couple of inches of snow today I hear. It has been absolutely frigid in the negative degrees and very windy lately. I am staying warm in the studio, sewing and creating some of the Spring line for 2010 for Glenna's Garden. The picture of the day is a set of mulberry paper bookmarks I created for the Spring 2010 line. It is beautiful paper to work with as well as joy to look at. I have procured some of this paper so I can do a couple of custom orders wether it is bookmarks or tags. Interested please let me know. This cute snail was seen casting its' shadow as it slithered around the garden indoors of course not really though but what a neat way to make something from an empty plastic tape dispenser. I am keeping that one out of a landfill. ECO ART!

FINALLY FRIDAY

I captured a picture of the three pomegranate buds so that will be the pic of the day. I hope they all bloom at once. Rainy and cold again today in Manchester, NH. Good time to stay in and get some projects done here in the studio. The rain is taking all the leaves down at once so when they dry out some there will be much raking to do around Glenna's Garden. Lately I have been making some Spring things I will also put up a pic here of some very cute clippies I made for Spring 2010. Marvelous Monday

This week at Glenna's Garden I will be concentrating on Fall 2009. It is time for Fall products to be listed. I decided to make a few things for Fall early and I am glad I did. I am already working on Christmas too. Then I jump ahead and say for Spring 2010 I need to have materials by Fall 2009 and products will be made during Winter 2009. Meanwhile my art is a constant and it comes to me in bits and pieces. I don't always feel creative everyday but it flows nicely. My art isn't selling but I am not concerned. I like it and I know that not all of it will sell. It is important to really enjoy what you are creating first. I love to work with my pressed flowers. To me they are my paint, my colors. I brush them onto whatever surface I am applying them to. No fingers allowed. They are incredibly delicate and have to be brushed on gently. I am still working on the canvas project I blogged about recently and showed the picture of the beginnings of it on here already. When I work with fabrics like silk I don't just press the fabric on to the surface I am applying it to with my fingers. I brush it on very carefully it stretches and shrinks and has to be brushed on carefully. Slow and very tedious work, that I simply love to do. Fresh Friday

Sunny this morning up here in Manchester, NH.....this is a good morning blog. Today I will be adding bits and pieces of fresh new looks and ideas. My very nice friend Heather has a blog. So we will start with her today. She is a crafter. On her blog she shows us some great inexpensive ways to craft. Plus her blog shows all of the beautiful projects she has made. They will be available for purchase in Glenna's Garden at http://www.gnormyle.etsy.com/ . Today is posting , PIF's and picture taking day at Glenna's Garden. Time to refill the shop with new items for Father's Day, there are going to be many cute quilters bookmarks, tags, stickers and books, cards for graduates, more repurposed containers and a few more boxes should be completed very soon. Later on today after picture taking there will be more pictures posted here too. This is the Christmas poinsetta blooming red in May, poor thing, she is very confused. Everybody at Glenna's Garden is getting a kick out of her late bloom. She completely skipped Christmas by the way and didn't bloom for Christmas 2008. Miss Poinsetta is about 4 maybe 5 years old at best. She loves her spot next to the big window facing southeasterly. Plenty of good morning sunshine!

Wishful Wednesdays

Made a custom order for a customer and it just took me two days to complete. There are other initials available in my shop. Plus three of the tins are ready to go check it out. This was the only personalized I for Iris, that I have ever had. My favorite flower is the Iris especially the purple ones as that is my favorite color too. Next comes blues and then greens. I am positive my customer is going to love this beautiful repurposed tin I have made. Go to my shop at http://www.gnormyle.etsy.com/ to see others I have made already some like the letter V. But this is truly OOAK (one of a kind) and lovely. Certain plants are blooming at Glenna's Garden like this dainty African Violet. She has been with us for several years now she happily blooms every Spring just like clock work. Her flowers unfortunately are too lush and fleshy. They are ruffled. She does not press well. She can not be pressed for use in any projects here at Glenna's Garden so I decided offer you a glimpse of one of many different plants in Glenna's Garden. Have a Wonderful Wednesday I did. I got a surprise visit from my son who brought along my grandson who is now almost 15 months hold. He kissed me for the first time. I love my grandson so dearly. He was a blessing from above as he was born on my Mother's Birthday. My angel baby. I wish for some more wonderful Wednesdays like today.

Spring has sprung at Glenna's Garden. My creativity is flowing. I have a shop online now. It is at http://www.gnormyle.etsy.com/ . I have turned my hobby into something I can hopefully sell. I make these cards. They are what I call my altered photography. I joined EtsyNHStreetTeam the other day. I am meeting many fellow artisans (Etsians) from my homestate of NH. The Live Free or Die State. Actually I am from the West Coast originally. Oregon is where I grew up until age 9 and then we moved East to Maryland. I left MD and lived in FL for 15 years off and on when I was older. I claim NH to be my home now that I have lived here for three years. Well I have to go for now. It is Saturday and the big day before Easter. Brady my 14 mo. old grandson is coming over for a visit tonight. I can't wait to give him big Nana hugs and kisses. HAPPY EASTER everybody!
