The Day It Rained

Dover Publications purple swirl

Today is going to be a rainy day. Still warm muggy and grey as grey can be morning skies. Today I need to make a mad dash, timing it perfectly of course, to the post office box. Could be worse and I wouldn't be dashing at all, it could be Winter. Well it looks like today is going to be another great day to stay inside and do Spring cleaning and organizing in my studio. A thought keeps popping in my mind every once in awhile lately and that is to write about growing up a blonde. I don't know why I am being urged by my inner self to write about this so I just keep putting it off. Do you ever get thoughts like this not troubling thoughts just persistent?

Arrival of Spring

From the looks of dates here I have been very busy. I am late posting an Easter Greeting so I thought well why not add it now. So Happy Easter Greetings to all. I hope things went well for you and you had a wonderful day on Sunday. Many blessings!

We are arriving at Spring now. Beautiful bright yellow forsythia bushes have burst open and the lilac is leafing once again. All of the daffodils, also tulips and hiacynths, mostly the small plants like snowdrops have popped up out of the ground. Just this past Saturday we got enough snow that it coated everything. It has been coolish and rainy since but the next two days up here in southern NH we are looking for the 60's and that is going to make a lot of Springtime pop here!

I am feeling better healthwise......I had a rough Fall right through Winter. Feeling a lot better now! Thanks for all of the prayers! I am so grateful to have my windows open in my studio and I can hear the birds chirpping! The best sound in the world to me is that! Frogs croaking would be the second best!

Pux's Prediction

Yesterday was a whiteout and it snowed so hard it looked like it was raining. We got about a foot total on top of the couple the other feet of snow that was still here. I am so looking forward to Spring! Funny because I am doing a postcard swap today. I just happened to find some really nice Spring postcards recently so that is what I am sending out. Check out http://www.swapbot.com/ for a large variety of fun swaps. So far I have had a super positive experience with swapping from email to postcards to crafts and also supplies. plus more. I have traded my artcards in the ATC swaps! Well with yesterday being Groundhog Day we should now be expecting Spring soon. Do you believe in Pux's prediction? Is Spring coming early?

The End of the Month

It is a day or two to the end of the first month of 2011. It has been a crazy month here for extreme weather, lots of snow and subzero temperatures. Here is southern New Hampshire. I finally made the trip to see my sister in MA and our other sister flew up from SC. I went with my sons and grandsons. That was two weekends ago. Fun was had by all! I am eagerly anticipating a new computer next month. Thus the reason for my lack of participation online and Glenna's Garden shop has been closed. I am using my son's computer still yet! Praying nothing goes wrong to make it look like I broke it. I am also starting to prep a bunch of items for photos for my shop. I still want to get an ott-lite. I will be checking them out today. Anybody have any good tips for taking photos indoors and using an ott-lite?

The Eve Before New Year's Eve

This week I have weathered a blizzard on Monday and then the stomach bug on Tuesday and Wednesday. I took care of my grandsons on the day of the blizzard because their school was closed for the blizzard I traveled out in the blizzard twice it was necessary, my son picked me up and drove me home. It was safe and not bad out when we traveled. Nana duty is 24/7 whenever needed as long as I am feeling well. There is no way I would have been able to take care of them feeling like I did come Tuesday night. Today I am finally better ~ eating and rehydrating. Up and out of bed! Sore and tired! I got a flu shot back in September. I was under the impression that I wouldn't get stuff like this stomach flu or is it respiratory. I immediately fell ill with respiratory issues after receiving my flu shot this year and I am just now recovering possibly after several months. I am caustiously optimistic on that though. How are you feeling this Winter 2010? Anybody have any snow stories? I have one it is sunny today but so cold the snow isn't melting. Like the Arctic. Take me to where the irises grow all year round~is there such a place?

TOMORROW IS

December 3, 2010 is the last Firstfridayartwalk on ETSY for 2010. Use the search words firstfridayartwalk, aweteam and ffaw fine art on ETSY to find all of the participating shops. If you would like to join us please click on the title "TOMORROW IS" top of this blog and you are there and the click join on the AWEteam page. What is everybody working on for their shops? I am concentrating on Spring Easter 2011 etc Glenna's Garden will reopen then, sometime in early 2011. I have been designing and creating jewelry, purchasing Spring, oh and Valentines Day too. Plus we have St. Patrick's Day in the mix. I am in the pastel color mode currently. It feels like Christmas and winter are here with all of the hustle and bustle out there and all of the pretty Christmas/Winter outdoor decorations. We had so much rain and very high winds yesterday. This place I am in was shaking last night keeping me up. That is another reason I would like to move to a better place. We have noreaster storms here every so often, they come with high winds. I am only about 45 mins in from the NH coastline, and this place was shaking so bad in the last one, before the storm last night, that I seriously felt very uncomfortable and scared. I am an experienced hurricane survivor, of a few too. My favorite Christmas theme is Victorian that is why I picked these pictures/clip art today. They are from Dover Publications. The Christmas tree I used yesterday as well. Happy crafting, shopping, decorating, baking and whatever else you are doing during this holiday time of the year.

GOOD MONDAY MORNING

We had 15 minutes of snow Friday. Here is Manchester, NH....snow is expected for Thanksgiving Eve. Lately the temperatures have hovered around 29-33 degrees. Yes it is officially cold and we are heading into winter. I am looking forward to my birthday after Thanksgiving and then Christmas with my family. I love to decorate for Christmas. I don't have a big tree because we don't have the room for one. With my studio being packed up currently I have a few too many totes in the way. I did find a cute small tree that I plan to use this year. I have so many ways to decorate for Christmas without putting up a big tree anyway. I will share pictures with you of my Christmas decor later in another post. These are my adorable grandsons. The younger one born June 2010 is now triple in weight. He has some great smiles, loves to coo, and is developing normally. He was born 2 weeks early and preemie size at 6 pounds. The older one is so much fun to spend time with. He is 2 1/2 years old now and full of energy. Smart little man and a good big brother. This Christmas is all about my grandsons, my two sons and of course my wonderful daughter in law. I am so thankful for all of them.

Truly Blessed Thursday

Lessons from Nature:

"Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow." St. Matthew 6:28

Fall is turning colder into winter and those lilies are prepared to return next spring and summer that we know will happen. How are you prepared or preparing for that same time period? That is if you are experiecing Fall/Winter 2010.

Today it is 32 in Southern NH 11 AM EST.....coldest yet for us! My heat is on and I am dressed warm. Warm foods and drinks help beat the chill. I drink cocoa at night very soothing and helps to relax me to sleep. Hot coffee in the morning keeps me going. Looking for more blankets is on my agenda. Soon that blanket of snow will fall from above and insulate us. Thanks be to God for all the seasons! Stay warm too!

MONDAY MORNINGS

All over the city of Manchester, NH we have these beautiful vines growing on the sides of buildings!

Today I am sharing a recipe of a different sort. ENJOY! Not edible!!!!

Cherry Bubble Bath

Supplies:
1/2 cup unscented mild shampoo
3/4 cup water
1/2 tsp. salt (regular table salt is fine)
15 drops cherry fragrance oil for bodies (you can substitute with different fragrances)
decorative jar/bottle

Pour shampoo into a bowl and add water. Stir gently until well mixed. Add salt and stir until mixture thickens. Add cherry fragrance oil and place in decorative bottle. This can also be used as a body wash. Makes a nice gift too!
Wow that is a very expensive tub!!!!!!! Any tub will do. : )

Today's focus word is connect. Connect meaning put one object with another. Connect the dots....I am connected at least I like to beleive I am. My connections include art and gardening two of my favorites. My connections are growing. I nurture my connections. In turn I feel positive!

0 (number)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zero, written 0, is both a number and the numerical digit used to represent that number in numerals. It plays a central role in mathematics as the additive identity of the integers, real numbers, and many other algebraic structures. As a digit, 0 is used as a placeholder in place value systems. In the English language, 0 may be called zero, oh, null, nil, "o", zilch, zip or nought, depending on dialect.

So if I have zero sales lately it still has meaning! It means I need to makes changes and that is a good thing.

It is another HOT day to be almost 90 first thing this morning. Thank goodness we have AC. I was up early watering all the plants. I don't think we got any rain last night. I need to go downtown today to the PO. Not with sales unfortunately but with goodies for my swap partners. If you are looking for a fun way to meet people all over the world check out http://www.swap-bot.com/ you decide which swaps you want to join, some are USA only which costs less than international shipping. So far it has been fun and fair! I am collecting postcards and sending PC's to others. Some of the swaps are email only! The idea is to be creative and share. There is a rating system with hearts that you can give your partner if they send you a really nice package, great email or a good postcard/letter handwritten.

I was the recepient of a $1.00 bag from a yard sale this past Saturday. In the bag was a beautiful variegated purple (my fave color) handmade afghan doesn't smell looks almost new (great for the harsh winters up here in NH), a hardback book 1997 The Ghost Danielle Steel (I have not read it....yet), a lovely Nove Made in Italy ceramic green leaf plate which is numbered and has value, a 1986 NE Patriots mug, collectible (my older son has already claimed it), and a NY Jets NFL mug nobody wants ....YET! So there I will be this next Winter.....wrapped up in my new afghan blanket, my fine Italian made plate holding sweets by my side, sipping something warm from my NY Jets mug... reading The Ghost as snow gently falls past my window. Stay cool this summer and keep on the sunny side!

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE 2009

Finally we are celebrating a New Year tommorow JAN 1, 2010 and on ETSY we are having another FirstFridayArtWalk. All shops including mine at www.gnormyle.etsy.com that participate can be found by using the search for all items tag word firstfridayartwalk at www.etsy.com If you want to join please visit my shop and from there in my announcement you can read more about FirstFridayArtWalk on ETSY. We are bracing for another quick blast of a couple of inches of snow today I hear. It has been absolutely frigid in the negative degrees and very windy lately. I am staying warm in the studio, sewing and creating some of the Spring line for 2010 for Glenna's Garden. The picture of the day is a set of mulberry paper bookmarks I created for the Spring 2010 line. It is beautiful paper to work with as well as joy to look at. I have procured some of this paper so I can do a couple of custom orders wether it is bookmarks or tags. Interested please let me know. My email addy is gnormyle@yahoo.com This fine set of designer bookmarks is set to go up for sale in my shop in a couple of days. As always my customers love to see what is going on in the studio. So I will include a studio pic too. This cute snail was seen casting its' shadow as it slithered around the garden indoors of course not really though but what a neat way to make something from an empty plastic tape dispenser. I am keeping that one out of a landfill. ECO ART!

WELCOME TO WEDNESDAY

The weather outside is a chilly 25 degrees today in Manchester, NH. Warm inside Glenna's Garden studio. The poinsettia plant here has been earnestly working to change to red up through the stems and out through a few leaves the red pigment has started to flow. I thought I would share a picture of that today. It is actually very interesting how a poinsettia plant gets its' red because the rest of the year the leaves are a deep evergreen. The answer is to give the plant the right amount of darkness. Darkness falls on the plant in the room where it is and it always gets longer in the winter. Thus we have evergreen leaves that turn to red right around Christmas time. The poinsettia plant will bloom and that is when you get the yellow at the end. When that occurs with our lovely large poinsettia plant here at Glenna's Garden studio I will share it with you. Don't forget to stop on by our shop in Manchester, NH at www.gnormyle.etsy.com HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Thank you kindly for dropping by. It all began in a garden!
